Cats are already the stars on youtube where worldwide 100 hours cat videos are uploaded every minute.

Now a real life trend initiated in Asia is swapping over to Europe.

The world’s first cat café, “Cat Flower Garden”, opened its doors in Taipei,Taiwan. The Taiwanese cat café eventually became a tourist destination, attracting tourists from Japan as well as all over the globe.Though the origin of cat café is in Taiwan, the concept blossomed in Japan, where the first one named “Neko no Jikan” (lit. “Cat’s Time”) was opened in Osaka. Due to the Japan’s land size and population, many residents live in small apartments or condominiums which do not allow pets, making a cat café a very popular destination for young workers looking for the companionship and comfort offered. Tokyo’s first cat café, named “Neko no mise” (Shop of Cats), opened in 2005. After this, the popularity of cat cafés boomed in Japan increasing to seventy-nine cat cafés across the country. They are a place where you can relax with a coffee and enjoy a bit of feline company.

Instead outdoor activites for cats are offered in Milan, Italy, where recently a parc was opened dedicated entirely to cats. The “Gattoparco” with 6,400 sqm where cats can stroll around, climb trees, meet fellows. Parts of the parc are devided into small areas where the owners can play with their cat. A program offers also regular meetings with experts and vets.

A cat can also be the muse for a great designer. Choupette, a sweet little kitten, is the inspiration for Karl Lagerfeld. He created collections dedicated to her with the titles “Monster Coupette!” and “Choupette in Love”. Being model for Japanese beauty products and part of a publicity campaign for the German car producer Opel, she gained 3 million Euro. She appeared also as cover model at Vogue.

Lil Bub is an American celebrity cat known for her unique appearance. She was the runt of her litter. Her owner, Mike Bridavsky, adopted her when his friends called to ask him to give her a home. “Lil Bub” on facebook has over two million likes. Lil Bub stars in Lil Bub &Friendz, a documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the  Online Festival Best Feature Film.

Well, everybody needs love and therefore cats will be our companions forever.
